WHAT IS AIRBRUSH TANNING?
Airbrush tanning or sunless tanning, is a process by which a DHA based solution is sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush gun. When the airbrush tanning solution is applied onto the skin, a safe, natural, sunless tan develops. Sunless tanning solutions contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA), an ingredient approved by the FDA, which reacts with the natural amino acids in the top layer of your skin, producing a sunless bronze tan. The pigments resulting from a spray tan do not provide UV protection! The deepest tan color is reached within about 12 hours, so the color will continue to darken after the initial application. Tanning solutions also typically have a bronzer that provides an immediate tan effect. This instant color helps ensure even coverage. Most of this added bronzer will come off in the first shower after application. The color that remains is produced by the DHA reacting with the skin.
HOW IS THIS METHOD DIFFERENT FROM SPRAY TANNING BOOTHS?
Airbrush tanning uses the same basic type of solution used in spray booths; however, airbrush tanning allows for a more personalized and precise application of the solution. We can add more solution to areas where the sun would naturally, such as the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, and shoulders. Because the tanning solution is applied by your own personal technician, there will be no "missed" spots or uneven areas that can occur otherwise, as solution application is monitored and controlled per each individual.
IS AIRBRUSH TANNING SAFE?
Yes, dihydroxyacetone has been FDA approved for use in the personal care industry for over thirty years. No adverse effects have been reported other than minor skin irritations on allergic people. Allergic reactions are extremely rare and can usually be eliminated by showering.
WHAT ABOUT ALLERGIC REACTIONS?
If you have hypersensitive skin, or are allergic to sunless-tanning products, please proceed with caution. You should check with your physician prior to using this or any other sunless tanning product. We have had very few reports of reactions of any sort, but let's play it safe.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO TO PREPARE FOR A SPRAY TANNING SESSION?
For optimal results the skin should be clean and free from moisturizers, make-up and deodorants. Lotions and make-up may block pores and prevent the tanning solution from reaching and interacting with the skin. On the night prior to, or on the morning of the tanning session, the client should shower using mild, non-moisturizing gel soap. Also use caution while conditioning the hair, making sure the conditioner does not get on the skin. This could cause a barrier between the tanning solution and the skin. Also use a non-oil based exfoliant.
I HAVE A “FORMER TAN”, CAN YOU EVEN IT OUT?
Definitely, the tan is totally customizable to be as light or as dark as you like.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
Clients should wear loose fitting clothing to the tanning appointment. Flip-flops or sandals are
recommended rather than shoes and socks. Many clients tan in old swimming attire or dark undergarments. Disposables may be purchased from your technician as an alternative. Nude or topless tanning is also permitted. (Must be over 18.) It just depends on whether you want tan lines or not. Our staff is completely professional.
HOW LONG DOES A TANNING SESSION TAKE?
Because we use the HVLP (high volume low pressure) turbine spray gun, it will take approximately 15 minutes to apply. The drying time is less than that of airbrushing because of the reduction of overspray. It is important that the solution dry on the skin prior to clients putting their clothes back on to avoid smearing or removing solution from the skin.
HOW DARK WILL I GET?
You will have significant color from just one session. Each client is evaluated based on their natural skin tone and a solution is selected just for them. We will not provide a solution which we know will make your tan look fake or unnatural. If you are fair skinned, don´t be discouraged! You will have more color than you could ever get with traditional tanning methods!
I USUALLY BREAK OUT IN FRECKLES WHEN I TRY TO TAN. WILL THE TANNING SOLUTION MAKE MY FRECKELS COME OUT TOO?
There is nothing in the tanning solution that will cause more freckles to break out. In fact, in most cases, freckles and blemishes will become less pronounced because the lighter skin areas will darken and reduce the color differentiation between the blemishes and the rest of your skin.
WILL MY SKIN TURN ORANGE?
The formula that we use has been specially formulated to produce a balanced tan without an orange tint and when applied properly delivers a natural looking, golden tan. The orange tint is often the result of excessive quantities of the DHA tanning agent being applied to the skin.
WILL THE COLOR RUB OFF ON CLOTHES?
Until you take a shower, a little of the bronzer can come off on your clothes. Don’t worry! It's all water soluble and will wash out. However, AVOID leather, suede, silk, and synthetics, the bronzer could stain these materials.
HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN SHOWER OR WORKOUT?
We recommend you wait at least 8 hours before showering or working out. This will allow your tan to develop. Many people choose to wait until the next morning to shower - the longer you wait, the darker your tan will get. It will also last longer!
HOW LONG WILL MY TAN LAST?
It should last 7-10 days, with proper moisturization and maintenance. A spray tan fades just like a tan from the sun. This depends on the individual's rate of exfoliation and the quality of the tanning solution.
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN YOUR SPRAY TAN?
After the first post-tan shower, apply moisturizer daily. Hydrated skin is essential in maintaining a longer lasting tan. To maximize the results the client should use a tan extending moisturizer, drink plenty of water, and try to avoid contact with harsh chemicals that will strip the skin of its beautiful new color. Please remember that airbrush tanning is not meant to protect your skin from the sun, and we highly recommend the use of sun block daily to protect the health of your skin.

The main benefit to sunless tanning is the protection it offers your skin. Traditional tanning methods, such as laying out in the sun, or using a tanning bed can cause severe damage to your skin. Every time your skin is exposed to UV rays, your chances of developing skin cancer increase. Each year, the rate of skin cancer grows, due to harmful UV exposure. It is estimated that 7,000 people die from skin cancer every year. According to WebMD, about 50,000 new cases of melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States yearly as well. Additionally, sun damage can cause wrinkles to develop prematurely.

DOES IT HURT TO GET AN AIRBRUSH TATTOO?
This is one of our most commonly asked questions. The answer is no! There are no needles used, therefore the experience is painless. If anything, it tickles a little.
HOW LONG DOES AN AIRBRUSH TATTOO LAST?
Temporary Airbrush Tattoos paints and inks are instant drying, water resistant, and last on average from a few days up to one week, or may be removed instantly with isopropyl alcohol. The duration of temporary airbrush tattoos depends mainly on how it is cared for and the airbrush customer’s skin type.
HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF THE AIRBRUSH TATTOO?
• do not rub or scrub tattoo, pat or air dry tattooed area
• powder after bathing and before sleeping
• keep tight fitting clothing from rubbing on tattoo
• do not shave over tattoo
• pat dry after bathing or swimming
• avoid direct contact with oils, lotion, or soap
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PAINT A DESIGN?
It just takes around 5 minutes for the whole process.
IS THIS HENNA?
No! Henna is an ink that stains your skin. Airbrush tattoos do not stain your skin; they sit on top of your skin and can be removed immediately.
IS IT SAFE?
The body paints are made with all FDA approved non-toxic ingredients. Alcohol is the most possibly irritating ingredient although we have NEVER even heard of any problems with any of our tattoos.

No. With airbrush hair highlights, you can achieve instant highlights, without the commitment of a permanent hair color. The color washes out instantly. It is safe to use, and will not damage permanently colored or treated hair.
WILL THE COLOR AFFECT MY PRETREATED HAIR?
The airbrush highlight colors have been developed by Su-Do in Europe in conjunction with a top L’Oreal®-accredited salon and are accurate to professional color consulting charts. There are over 15 natural shades to choose from, to get an accurate example of how a permanent color treatment will look.
HOW LONG DO THE AIRBRUSH HIGHLIGHTS LAST?
The airbrush highlights will wash completely out after the first wash. They are completely temporary.
CAN THE AIRBRUDSH HIGHLIGHT COLOR COVER GREY HAIR?
Yes, absolutely. Because the color is being applied with an airbrush, it is sitting on top of the hair and allows for full coverage.
